Unleash
Potential

At GoodWork Dog Cookie Co., see potential everywhere. Through our pupcycle project, we partner with local breweries to bring new life to spent grains. After brewing, these grains are commonly shared with farmers for animal feed or composted. We take a portion of this wholesome ingredient and carefully incorporate it into our delicious dog cookies.
By baking these nutrient-rich grains into our dog treats, we extend their usefulness in a thoughtful and purposeful way—creating something both meaningful and delicious.
All spent grains used in our cookies are fully alcohol- and hop-free, making them a safe and wholesome choice for your pup.

What are
Spent Grains?
Spent grains are the leftover malted barley and other grains that remain after the brewing process in a brewery. When brewing beer, grains are steeped in hot water to extract their sugars, flavors, and nutrients, which are then used to ferment and create beer. Once this process is complete, the grains are separated from the liquid and are considered "spent" because most of the sugars have been removed.
Despite this, spent grains are still rich in fiber, protein, and essential nutrients, making them an excellent ingredient for other uses, like making dog cookies! Importantly, by the time grains become spent, they have not come into contact with hops, which are added later in the brewing process. This means spent grains used in dog treats contain no hops, and since the grains are removed before alcohol fermentation takes place, there is no alcohol present.
Using spent grains is also an environmentally friendly choice, as it helps reduce waste by upcycling a nutritious byproduct of the brewing process. Our dog cookies made with spent grains are completely safe for dogs, wholesome, and delicious—giving your pup a treat you can feel good about!
